IPC organized the 3rd International Pepper Conclave 2015 in Shanghai, China

The 42nd Session of IPC held in HCM City, Vietnam, in November 2014 has requested the IPC along with the stake holders of the IPC member countries to undertake the market promotion programme to East Asian countries by holding the 3rd International Pepper Conclave in 2015.

The IPC after considering the potential of China, a country with huge population of almost close to 1.5 billion and have fast growth of industry and economy which creates ample opportunity for food consumption patterns to grow further, as decided at the last Session selected Shanghai to host the 3rd International Pepper Conclave.

The 3rd International Pepper Community has been successfully organized by the International Pepper Community in close collaboration with the China Essential Oils, Aroma & Spices Trade Association (CHINAEASA) of the China Chamber of Commerce during 25th-26th June 2015 at Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC), Shanghai, China.

The 3rd International Pepper Conclave was held in conjunction with the Food Ingredients Asia China, Health Ingredients and Natural Ingredients 2015 in Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC) from 24th to 26th June 2015 and this Trade Expo has recognized and listed the Pepper Conclave as one of the major onsite events under the Food Ingredients Asia - China 2015.

Experts, officials, trade representatives from the IPC member countries of India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Vietnam as well as the representatives from the consuming countries of Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore and China participated at the 3rd International Pepper Conclave.

The Conclave which was inaugurated by Mr. Rong Wediong, Vice President of the China Chamber of Commerce and presented a number of papers from the experts from IPC member countries of India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Vietnam and 3 experts from China and one from Japan namely:

The Executive Director of IPC, Mr. WDL Gunaratne delivered his address at the opening.

Two panel discussions were also conducted led by Mr. WDL Gunaratne, Executive Director of IPC with the panel members comprising of the experts from the IPC member countries. Business negotiations among the business entrepreneurs participating at the Conclave have took place and another meeting between the China Chamber of Commerce, China Essential Oils, Aroma & Spices Trade Association and the Board members of the Export Development Board of Sri Lanka was also arranged in conjunction with the 3rd Pepper Conclave.

The IPC is pleased to note that based on comments and feedback from the member countries, the 3rd International Pepper Conclave have been considered to be very useful and benefited to the officials and trade representatives from the IPC member countries who participated at the Conclave to get a better picture about the potential and the opportunity of the pepper trade in the China market.
