India and Indonesia organized Pepper Day in October 2017

The Liaison Office of the Republic of Indonesia i.e. Ministry of Trade has organized the Pepper Day in Pangkal Pinang, Bangka Belitung Province, Indonesia on 4th October 2017. The Pepper Day was organized by the Ministry of Trade of Indonesia in close collaboration with the pepper stake holder in Bangka Belitung Province, the producing province of well-known Muntok White Pepper.

The Pepper Day part of the IPC promotion programme which normally organized by the IPC member countries in the respective countries with the objective to promote the uses of pepper in foods and create awareness on the medicinal values and properties of pepper

There are some events organized during the Pepper Day 2017 held in Pangkal Pinang, Bangka Island, these include the Seminar with the speakers from the pepper sectors and the cooking demonstration.

In the meantime, the Spices Board of India also organized the similar event, Pepper Day 2017 in West Garo Hills, Meghalaya on 6th October 2017. The Pepper Day in India was attended Chief Guest, Mr. Limison D Sangma, Honorable MLA & Parliamentary Secretary, Govt of Meghalaya. A total of 300 participants from different villages of West Garo Hill District of Meghalaya and Assam participated at the event.

During the Pepper Day, Mr. Limison D Sangma,Honbl'e MLA & Parliamentary Secretary, Govt Of Meghalaya also inaugurated the programme by planting black pepper rooted cutting in the school premises. img
