Dr. A. Jayathilak, IAS named as Chairman of International Pepper Community

The International Pepper Community is pleased to announce that Dr. A. Jayathilak IAS, who is the Chairman of the Spices Board of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, as the Chairman of the International Pepper Community to serve the office till November 25, 2015.

India is now holding the chairmanship of the International Pepper Community and Dr. Jayathilak assumed the office of the Chairman of IPC from Mr. Tran Kim Long, Director General of International Cooperation Department, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Government of Vietnam.

Dr. A. Jayathilak from Indian Administrative Service (IAS) of 1991 batch- Kerala Cadre is a post graduate in Medicine Surgery and a native of Thiruvananthapuram. He has been appointed as the Chairman of the Spices Board in 2011 and is holding the additional charge of the Chairman of the Rubber Board from Sept. 2014. Prior to his appointment, Dr. Jayathilak held posts in Govt. of Kerala as Secretary & Director, Agriculture; Secretary, Water Resources Department; Director, Rural Development; Director, Personal and General Administration; District Collector, Kollam & Kozhikode; Managing Director, KTDC; Managing Director, Industries, and Sub Collector, Mananthavadi. He also held posts in Govt. of Chhattisgarh as Managing Director of the Tourism Board, and Commissioner, Finance & Excise.

He Was the National Champion in the National Quiz while representing Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram and Captained the Indian Quiz team in the International Quiz at Islamabad in 1990 and a Member of the Kozhikode district team in the categories of Air pistol, Standard pistol and Rapid fire pistol in the Kerala State Shooting Championship.

He has implemented e-office (paperless office) system. Spices Board became the first central government office in South India to be paperless when it implemented e-office in its Head Quarters in Cochin. Under his Chairmanship, the Spices Board has been conferred with ÔÇ£Niryath Bandhu AwardÔÇØ and it was received from Shri. Pranab Mukherjee, the President of India.

Jayathilak, IAS of India as the Chairman of the IPC for the year of 2014/2015 and would like to extend our sincere thanks and gratitude to the past immediate Chairman of IPC, Mr. Tran Kim Long of Vietnam for his guidance and outstanding support towards the overall development of the global pepper industry during his chairmanship.
