About The Event
2022 is set to be another encouraging year for the pepper industry as we shift gears in the battle against COVID-19 pandemic. This essentially means that business and trade will have to align themselves to the new way of working in the aftermath of the pandemic in order to ensure the sustainability of the global pepper industry. The pandemic is not over yet but with the vaccination programmes worldwide, countries beginning to ease travel restrictions and life is slowly getting back to normal but yet the cost of farming has been increased. Other issues such as freight and climate change are also affecting cultivation of pepper and disruptions to both supply and demand.
The New Normal for the pepper industry in the global scenario therefore is characterized by inflation, climate change, disruption in logistics and legislation along with health and safety aspects in an era struck by the pandemic. The focus is on how to align to the new normal in order to sustain the pepper industry and to improve the livelihood of the pepper smallholders.
