DEA launched a program series to support pepper industry in Sri Lanka

Department of Export Agriculture, Sri Lanka has started a program series to strengthen the pepper industry in Sri Lanka. The first two programs of this series were held successfully on 19th and 27th February, 2015, at the Department In-service training center, Matale, Sri Lanka. More than 200 participants representing producers, processors and traders attend the programme.

Main objectives of the program are increase awareness of the farming community about the advantages of investing on pepper industry, promote Good Agricultural Practices, Pepper Processing and Value addition, strengthen the Market opportunities and increase Pepper Exports.

Department of Export Agriculture has already launched an assistance scheme to distribute good quality planting material and to assist financially in initial stages to maintain the crop and processing of quality pepper and also all the technical advices provide by a well experienced staff.
